That’s a wrap!

Our 2022 Interleague campaign concluded yesterday, with our Division 1 & 2 Under 14 teams taking on the Yarra Junior Football League in Ivanhoe, to close out what was an extremely successful representative program.

In 2022, we again looked outside of our region to provide extra development opportunities for our participants, which this year saw us compete against the Picola & District Football Netball League, and metro powerhouse Yarra Junior Football League.

Each year, the MPJFL Division 1 & 2 Interleague teams participate in the South-East Regional Championships, which is traditionally played over the Queens Birthday Weekend and July School Holidays.

Over the span of the QB weekend for Division 1, and the July School Holidays for Division 2, our teams battled it out against the Frankston & District Junior Football League (FDJFL), the South East Juniors (SEJ), and the Outer East Football Netball League (OEFNL) – Division 1 Only.

Over the years the South East Regional Championships has provided a strong representative pathway for the talented juniors within the region to compete against each other, hopefully leading into TAC Cup/NAB League selection.

Our 2022 Division 1 and 2 teams represented the MPJFL and our clubs with distinction and made us extremely proud by showing immense sportsmanship and integrity, win or lose.

Please find below the results for the Regional Championships:

After initiating a development relationship with the Yarra Junior Football League in 2021, we continued our representative series into 2022, this time splitting our matches over three separate days. The series was once again a success, and we thank Brad and the team at the YJFL for allowing us the opportunity to play these matches this season. You can find the results to the series below:

This year, we rekindled a partnership with the Picola & District Football Netball League, which saw our Under 14 and Under 16 Boys play the PDNFL at Mernda on the 3rd July. Both teams came away with wins, but what’s most important is that it was another great opportunity for two of our teams to play together, and we look forward to continuing the relationship with the PDFNL into next season. Please find the results to these matches below:

Over the span of June/July, our Interleauge program participated in 39 matches, with 11 teams taking the field to represent the MPJFL and our clubs on a regional scale.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our coaches and team staff for their dedication to the program, and to their specific teams. We are grateful of these efforts, and recognize the high caliber personnel that we are fortunate enough to have as part of our MPJFL Academy structure. The Interleague matches are the end result of a much greater process, spanning over the course of months, so we greatly appreciate the time and effort our volunteers put in to develop our participants.

We would also like to thank our valued partners for their support of our interleague program, particularly Bowens, Bluescope, KeKe Wellness and Gazza B Gary Bradshaw Photography. If you are looking for high quality images and prints from the carnival, head over to Gazza B Gary Bradshaw Photography! Gary is a long term supporter of our league and our interleague/tour teams, so please show him support and visit his website.

Most of all, congratulations to the players for a fantastic carnival. We look forward to watching you continue your development into the future, as well as in the remainder of the MPJFL 2022 season.
