Footy’s Finally Back!

After a long wait, community football is finally back, as we return this weekend for Round 1 of the 2022 MPJFL Season.

After a number of interrupted seasons, it will be great to see all of the participants get back on the field and enjoy the sport of Australian Rules Football.

On behalf of the MPJFL staff and executive we would like to congratulate and thank all club committees for their hard work and dedication in the preparations for the 2022 season. Volunteers are the lifeblood of community sporting organisations, and the clubs within the MPJFL are very fortunate to have such great club staff, working hard throughout the entire calendar year.  If you see a member of your clubs committee around the grounds this weekend, please remember to show your gratitude for their efforts so far this year.

The Round 1 fixture is now live, and is now visible via the PlayHQ website!

The remainder of the fixture will be uploaded and visible in PlayHQ in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on the MPJFL PlayHQ portal.

As always, would like to thank our valued partners for their support of the MPJFL and community sport.

Round 1 will also see the debut of the Westernport Pumas, a joint initiative between the Tyabb and Somerville Junior Football Clubs, that will see their female program merge in 2022 and beyond. Congratulations to all involved for such a great initiative, and the hard work behind the scenes to bring the concept to fruition. The Pumas will battle it out against the Rye/Sorrento Waves tomorrow morning at Casey Fields, in a curtain raiser to the VFLW match between Casey Demons and Geelong.

Best of luck to all competing teams this weekend! The action will kick off this evening, with the first match of the season Mount Martha hosting Rye in the Under 13s.
