The MPJFL is extremely excited to announce that we are partnering with the Danny Frawley Centre to launch ‘Spud’s Round’, which will see Round 13 of the season transform into a collaborative fundraising event involving all fourteen of our clubs.

The Danny Frawley Center is a state of the art, mental and physical fitness facility that located at the home of the Saints, RSEA Park in Moorabbin. Further to providing a world class performance environment, the DFC raises funds to deliver cutting edge community programs and initiatives, spanning across suicide alertness and prevention, positive masculinity and race based discrimination, and mental fitness, just to name a few.

By launching ‘Spud’s Round’ within the MPJFL, we have a significant opportunity to promote the importance of mental health awareness within the community, our clubs, and our members, while making a tangible contribution to the programs and initiatives the DFC will be able to offer.

MPJFL General Manager Andrew Souter is excited to launch such a promising initiative. “Mental Health is an extremely important focus area for us, and we are ecstatic to partner with the DFC to bring ‘Spud’s Round to the MPJFL. Our aim is to help promote awareness around the issues surrounding mental health, and hopefully raise some funds that will go towards the facilitation of youth programs” Andrew said.

“Spud’s Round is an opportunity for our clubs to unite together for a cause that is bigger than us all – and we look forward to seeing to what our clubs plan for Round 13” Andrew continued.

‘Spud’s Round’ will be filled with activations and exciting initiatives, so keep an eye on social media for ways to get involved!

Our partnership with the Danny Frawley Centre will extend past the upcoming ‘Spud’s Round’, with plans underway to work closely together in the coming years to deliver programs and create great outcomes for the Mornington Peninsula community and MPJFL participants.

We would love you to get on board and support this initiative in your own way, whether that’s sharing our post, spreading the message to a friend, or by making a donation, we all have a part to play in creating a safer future for the players within our league and the wider community!
